The Chief Executive Officer/ Executive Director has responsibility for the overall operation of the TPTA and for the formulation, development, recommendation, implementation, and administration of TPTA operational policies, personnel management, and business activities.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer/ Executive Officer possesses excellent analytical and communications skills, with a habit of precision in thought and expression; exceptional interpersonal skills in engaging a broad constituency; a demonstrated entrepreneurial instinct; and an experienced awareness of strategic opportunities.
Internal responsibilities include supervision/management of the TPTA’s programs and management of the select staff. External responsibilities include:
Building and managing relationships with external entities and professionals.
Engaging in board and committee development, strategic planning, and agenda planning.
Working cooperatively with corporate, government, organizational, academic, and other TPTA partners.
Presenting and/or representing the TPTA and TPTA positions.
Demonstrated ability to present/interact with legislative decision-makers and their staff.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
Provide direction on issues relative to the TPTA’s operations and activities.
Provide oversight and serve as the contact for the TPTA Board of Directors.
Provide oversight and direction on the TPTA annual budget.
Provide oversight and direction for the TPTA PAC, in conjunction with the TPTA PAC Board.
Serve as the staff liaison for select committees, including the TPTA Finance, Nominating, and Governmental Affairs Committees
Serve as the primary contact for external entities and professionals.
Cultivate productive relationships among staff, volunteers, and members.
Provide oversight and direction on financial and personnel issues.
Provide oversight and direction on legislative and regulatory activities.
Provide oversight and direction for activities of boards, committees, task forces, and liaisons.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree – graduate or professional degree preferred.
Experience
FIve or more years of senior staff experience managing finance, membership, policy, human resources, and/or education areas (preferably in healthcare-related, membership-based, non-profit organization).
Demonstration of Skills and Abilities
Ability to hire, develop, and retain high-quality employees.
Ability to manage staff remotely.
Knowledge of and experience in healthcare association industry.
Ability to create and manage change.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.
Skilled at identifying and evaluating new initiatives and programs and gauging their appropriateness for the association.
Ability to foster and function in a collaborative and collegial environment.
Skilled at team-building and facilitation.
Ability to manage million dollar plus financial operation.
Licenses/Certifications
Certified Association Executive (CAE)
Physical Requirements
The employee must be physically capable of carrying out all assigned duties, including but not limited to:
Normal office activities
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Travel
The employee must be willing to travel (estimated 30 days per year). In addition, the employee must be willing to travel to meet with members, other entities, and to represent the TPTA as needed and during the Texas legislative session.
Texas Physical Therapy Association is seeking an Executive Director. Remote position with 2 full-time employees, 1 part-time and a contract bookkeeper and a contract lobbyist. TPTA has ~7000 members statewide and is in sound financial standing.
