The Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS®, one of the largest local REALTOR® associations in the U.S., represents more than 12,000 REALTOR® members from Washington, D.C. and Montgomery County, MD, as well as industry-related professionals who support the real estate business.
We are seeking an attorney with real estate experience for a part-time staff attorney position in the legal affairs department for an association of real estate professionals. Duties include drafting content for website, such as FAQs, case studies, legislative updates, and other education and training resources for members. Duties will also include assisting in staffing the legal hotline, responding to member inquiries and providing legal research and analysis of a variety of topical issues, as well as reviewing and drafting contracts, forms, fact sheets, and other documents as needed.
This position will also educate association members about real estate legal issues in various formats and provide support to association committees, as needed.
Requirements
Law degree with one – three years of experience preferred.
Admission to DC and/or Maryland bar preferred.
Position will start as part-time (10-20 hours per week), with potential to become full-time in 2026 Q2. Part-time position is fully virtual; full-time position will require presence in-office once/week, remainder may be virtual.
Real Estate Knowledge/Background
The staff attorney position requires strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to research and analyze laws, legislation and regulations and explain them in layperson's terms. The position may also include opportunities to collaborate with other departments, association members and other organizations, so personal communication skills are critical.
