RESPONSIBILITIES:
Real Estate Support:
Document Preparation: Knowledge of Retail leases and lease provisions for drafting and reviewing various documents such as purchase agreements, lease agreements, lease modifications, renewals, assignments, deeds, closing statements, and corporate governance documents like articles of incorporation.
Title and Survey Review: Examining title commitments, title documents, and surveys to identify potential issues like liens or encumbrances and ensure compliance.
Closing Assistance: Preparing closing binders, coordinating closing appointments with title companies, and assisting during the closing process.
Transaction Management: Managing and tracking deadlines for real estate transactions, coordinating with parties involved (tenants, buyers, sellers, agents, lenders, attorneys), and ensuring contingencies are met.
Client Communication: Acting as a liaison between clients and other parties involved in the transaction, providing updates and ensuring smooth communication.
Research: Conducting research on zoning regulations, environmental reports, and permit statuses.
Notary Public – NYS.
Prepare and input lease summaries and related future events onto Timberline system.
Tax Certiorari Support:
Case Management: Co-ordinating with local network of Certiorari Attorneys and Assisting in preparation of legal documents, conducting legal research, and managing files related to tax certiorari cases.
Research: Conducting legal research on tax laws, regulations, and case law.
Document Filing: Filing legal documents and court papers with the appropriate courts and online systems.
Client Communication: Communicating with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders regarding case updates.
DeadlineManagement: Monitoring deadlines and ensuring timely filing of documents.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong communication skills: Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with clients, attorneys, and other professionals.
Attention to detail: Exceptional precision in reviewing documents, managing data, and preparing filings.
Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously and maintain organized files.
Time management skills: Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines, particularly in fast-paced environments.
Proficiency with technology: Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools. Timberline experience a big plus.
Legal research and analytical skills: Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analyze legal documents.
Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during transactions or tax certiorari cases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate or bachelor’s Degree, with a paralegal certificate preferred.
At least 5-7 years of experience in legal or paralegal real estate and/or tax certiorari matters.
