Position Summary:
Cardozo Law School invites applications for the Executive Director of the Heyman Center on Corporate Governance.
The Director will be responsible for creating and implementing programming focusing on cutting-edge business and corporate law issues, for selecting each year a group of Heyman student scholars, for mentoring and creating programming for those students, and for managing the Heyman Center Advisory Board. The Director will work closely with the Faculty Co-Directors of the Center, other corporate law faculty, and various departments at the law school to develop and promote corporate law-related programs at Cardozo. If the Director is qualified and interested in teaching, the Director may also teach a law school class related to corporate law practice and/or skills training and will be given an additional title of Adjunct Professor. Up to three days of remote work weekly will be allowed, so long as the Director's obligations to students are satisfied.
A successful candidate would be expected to start on or about July 1, 2024.
Position Responsibilities:
Working with the Heyman Center Faculty Co-Directors and other corporate-law faculty members, develop two academic programs or one major public conference per semester. Events can be scholarly and/or practice-industry focused, increasing exposure to and engagement with business and legal communities in the areas of banking, corporate governance, compliance, and capital markets, securities regulation or antitrust.
Lead the Heyman Scholars Program, an honors program for students interested in corporate or business law; plan and implement programming for Heyman Scholars; contribute to the professional growth of Heyman Scholars and maintain the community-building aspect of the program; oversee student recruitment and marketing of the program.
Engage with the Heyman Center Advisory Board, a group of high-profile corporate lawyers who elevate the Center's presence, advise the Heyman Center Director and attend events.
Strategize and organize marketing efforts jointly with the Communications Office to enhance the branding and reputation of the Center; edit promotional and other written materials. Maintain and grow the Center's social media presence; update and maintain the Center's webpage on the Cardozo website.
Experience & Educational Background:
J.D. or LL.M required
Two to four years of practice experience in a relevant area of law required
Salary Range:
$85,000-$95,000
