The Department of Management & Organizational Leadership (MOL) at the Zimpleman College of Business, Drake University, is excited to launch a search for Assistant Professor of Strategy. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month faculty position.
We are searching for a talented and collaborative colleague who can focus on strategy and societal impact. We are particularly interested in candidates with a research and/or teaching background in—and passion for—corporate social responsibility (CSR) and/or ESG (Environmental footprint, Social responsibility, and corporate Governance).
In MOL, tenure-track faculty can anticipate teaching, on average, three courses per semester, in addition to conducting research and contributing meaningful service to the Department, College, and University. This person’s main teaching assignment will include Business Strategy & Policy (undergraduate), and Corporate Governance & Ethics (MBA). This person will also develop and teach one or more undergraduate classes for our Honor’s Program focused on the intersection of Strategy and business as a force for good (e.g., Sustainable Business Strategy; Innovation for Social and Environmental Impact; Inclusive Business and Stakeholder Engagement).
Additional courses will be assigned and determined depending on the interests and areas of expertise of the selected candidate.
The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
The selected candidate may be offered the rank of Assistant Professor. This appointment will start in the Fall 2024.
Core Responsibilities:
This tenure-track position will have responsibilities for teaching, research, and service. Collectively, these responsibilities include:
Teaching
Teach undergraduate and graduate (MBA) classes in Strategy and Corporate Governance & Ethics. Teach undergraduate Honor’s classes related to the intersection of strategy and CSR/ESG. Teach three courses per semester.
Research
Conduct and publish high-quality research in the area of Strategy. Research expectations are commensurate with the student-focused mission of Drake University.
Service
Provide mentoring to Zimpleman students, including engaging students in research opportunities, conferences, and others, as well as guiding students’ professional development. Engage with the local business and non-profit community to help strengthen the College’s and the MOL department’s presence in the Greater Des Moines area. Engage in service to the University, College, and Department commensurate with expectations for Assistant Professors at Zimpleman.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Strategy or a related field. Candidates who are ABD must obtain their Ph.D. prior to appointment. Relevant industry experience is beneficial. Candidates with teaching and/or research expertise in corporate social responsibility (CSR), environmental footprint, social responsibility, and corporate governance (ESG), and other supporting topics that align with our College vision of business as a force for good, are especially encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the university level is highly desired.
