Join us on a mission to advance medicine.
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a full time faculty member to join a team of faculty in the Cytogenetics and Molecular Diagnostics clinical laboratories. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type, including leadership opportunities, will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates at any stage in their career are encouraged to apply. Candidates will share clinical service with other members of the team and have dedicated time off clinical service to devote to academic activities, including research and education. The Cytogenetics Laboratory offers a full menu of prenatal and postnatal constitutional testing and cancer analyses as well as specialized testing for bone marrow failure disorders. Similarly, the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory offers a wide range of germline and cancer testing. Techniques include karyotyping, FISH, chromosomal microarray, optical gene mapping, single-gene tests by PCR-based methods (qualitative, quantitative, and methylation-specific), targeted NGS panels and whole-genome sequencing.
The successful candidate will have completed an ABMG LGG Fellowship (or have completed cytogenetics and molecular genetics separately) and be interested in an academic career to include research and education. Minimum requirements for MD (or equivalent) candidates include eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota.
Mentoring junior faculty to develop their academic and professional careers is a high priority for our department. With a large group of faculty dedicated to research, there are numerous opportunities for research collaboration and internal funding. The new faculty member will join a highly collegial team that hosts a variety of research seminars and clinical conferences that further support continuing education and faculty interactions. Additionally, many senior faculty hold leadership positions in national organizations setting policy and guidelines for Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics.
