Ithaca College is excited to announce the establishment of the Center for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and seeks a Director for Staff Equity, Inclusion and Belonging to work in collaboration with leadership in the Center to develop strategies to help advance our Ithaca Forever strategic plan goal of becoming a national model for colleges committed to the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).
The successful candidate will research and identify current and emerging issues, trends, and opportunities and develop programs and processes to promote DEIB throughout the College community. Design and deliver trainings, presentations, and workshops to further educate staff and coordinate activities and services that enhance employee engagement by promoting the values of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Formulate and implement a culture of inclusion and engagement by developing and implementing strategies that integrate effective DEIB practices into human resources policies, practices, processes, benefits, programs, communications, and initiatives.
Ensure compliance with the College's responsibility and commitment to equal opportunity and develop and deliver training programs and materials. Monitor internal procedures and search activity for compliance with EEO. Promote positive employee relations programs and initiatives to include researching issues, trends and opportunities and providing conflict and dispute resolution services. Investigate and facilitate the resolution of discrimination complaints and employee relations issues. Coordinate and ensure compliance of all required discrimination and harassment training.
Supervision:
This position reports to the Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. This position will work with all members of the Center for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and the Office of Human Resources and others on campus to collaboratively further DEIB within the campus community. This position supervises the administrative assistant assigned to the Center for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
Job Duties:

Collaboratively with leadership in the Center for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, lead efforts to develop strategies that enhance the College’s mission by supporting the goals of DEIB set forth by the College’s Ithaca Forever Strategic Plan.
Research and identify current and emerging issues, trends, and opportunities and develop programs and processes to promote DEIB throughout the College community. Design and deliver trainings, presentations, and workshops to further educate staff and coordinate activities and services that enhance employee engagement by promoting the values of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Formulate and implement a culture of inclusion and engagement by developing and implementing strategies that integrate effective DEIB practices into human resources policies, practices, processes, benefits, programs, communications, and initiatives. Develop and implement strategies to monitor and evaluate progress toward creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where employees feel a sense of belonging and ensure continued monitoring. Collaborate with college leadership on the regular assessment and evaluation of campus climate and develop strategies for improvement.
Collaborate with leadership in the Center to assess equity, inclusion, and belonging on campus and define needs and opportunities to improve the campus climate, specifically as it pertains to equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Develop, monitor and regularly present metrics to measure success DEIB initiatives, including management, implementation and assessment of climate surveys. Develop assessment and outcome measures to determine program/initiative effectiveness.
Design, implement and support employee resource networks for staff to enhance and create a more inclusive workplace for all employees.
Collaborate with Center leadership on defining overall external and internal communications strategies and messaging. Develop communications and materials for distribution and maintain website content to further equity, inclusion, and belonging awareness within the campus community.
Research and evaluate trends and develop recommendations on policy, procedures and processes to support DEIB strategies. Ensure alignment of human resources policies and practices with the values of equity, inclusion, and belonging and develop and implement strategies to integrate effective DEIB practices with the College’s employment and workplace policies and monitor and evaluate progress.
Identify, develop and foster relationships with relevant external organizations and thought leaders, while positioning the Center with the appropriate networking and external partnering opportunities and avenues for engagement. Represent the College and the Office of Human Resources through service in area communities, national and regional consortia and associations.
Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
Consult with and educate supervisors and hiring managers on DEIB practices as they pertain to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employment, and retention. Ensure compliance with the College's responsibility and commitment to equal opportunity and develop and deliver training programs and materials. Develop recruitment and selection guidelines and procedures in order to achieve compliance with College policy and state and federal laws and regulations, particularly in the area of EEO and DEIB related subjects, and consult with search committees to communicate these guidelines and procedures. Monitor internal procedures and search activity for compliance with EEO.
Promote positive employee relations programs and initiatives to include researching issues, trends and opportunities and providing conflict and dispute resolution services. Investigate and facilitate the resolution of discrimination complaints and employee relations issues. Provide guidance and consultation to employees and supervisors and provide assistance in the resolution of individual workplace disputes. Collaborate with Title IX and Legal Affairs on the development and delivery of discrimination complaint review board training. Coordinate and ensure compliance of all required discrimination and harassment training.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years related experience; demonstrated experience implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives and understanding of the implications of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the academic setting and workplace; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; effective listening skills; ability to assess needs and develop and present educational programs and/or workshops; organizational and problem solving skills; and ability to work collaboratively on program design and implementation are required. Previous experience working in a college or university setting is preferred. SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources or PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification and/or Diversity Management Certification is a plus.

Hiring range: $90,000 - $100,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
