The Associate Dean for Development is the lead development officer of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Graduate School with responsibility for establishing the strategic direction and implementation of fundraising activities for The Graduate School. Reporting directly to the Dean, and collaborating with a team within The Graduate School, the Associate Dean is responsible for leadership of development at The Graduate School, including major and principal gift fundraising, as well as operational and strategic planning, board management, development communications, donor events, and alumni relations. The Associate Dean manages the annual giving program, with a focus on growing a sustainable base of annual donors for the School and ensures that all donors to the School receive appropriate stewardship. This position supports the Dean's work with select major and principal prospects, and is responsible for strategic planning, setting and meeting goals, and collaborating with peers in the unit. The Associate Dean will build and manage a personal portfolio of top prospects to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward annual, major and principal gifts. The position will be expected to identify potential new prospects from alumni with graduate degrees, corporations and foundations, and grow new prospects from qualification to a first major gift.

The Associate Dean also plays a key role as part of the senior leadership for The Graduate School. In this capacity, the Associate Dean participates actively in the overall strategic planning and management of The Graduate School.

The Associate Dean represents The Graduate School at the university development level by collaborating closely with the Executive Director of Development for Constituent Programs in the University Development Office, collaborating with relevant peers across campus and in the University Development Office (UDO), attending appropriate meetings, and communicating strategies, updates and reports as needed to and from UDO. The Associate Dean ensures that the Graduate School's development program follows all university-wide development policies. Such policies include setting and meeting activity metrics typical of a university fundraiser. The incumbent must enter in the Davie database on a timely basis his/her documentation of meetings and other contacts with alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations who are being cultivated for gifts to The Graduate School.

This position works closely with the volunteer membership of the Graduate Education Advancement Board (GEAB), as the primary liaison to the Board on behalf of the Dean. The GEAB assists The Graduate School and the University in generating broad support and funding for graduate education. The Associate Dean supports and coordinates efforts of the GEAB to achieve fundraising goals including conducting meetings of GEAB development and alumni committees.

- Experience with and a strong understanding of graduate education is preferred.
- Experience with development software is preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated record of success raising six- and seven-figure gifts, as well as corporate and foundation fundraising.
