Corporate Counsel - Privacy and Compliance

Position Summary:
The Corporate Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to internal clients on compliance and privacy issues and to provide legal and strategic leadership of the Company’s enterprise ethics and compliance and privacy programs that is resilient to changes in business practices, laws and regulations and stakeholder expectations while enabling consistent, effective compliance & privacy practices which create/preserve value and minimize risk.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and counsel to internal clients on compliance and privacy issues. Legal and operational oversight responsibility for the Company’s ethics and compliance and privacy programs, provide consultation around new service and product development, guide strategy, develop and operationalize compliance and privacy policies and act as a key educational leader for compliance and privacy strategy and operations.
Job Tasks:
- Provide legal and strategic advice to internal clients on a variety of legal compliance areas including privacy laws, clinician credentialing regulations, licensing requirements, anti-corruption laws, and workplace health and safety, as well as on compliance with other legal and regulatory requirements and the Company’s Code of Conduct.
- Provide strategic and operational direction and oversight of AMN’s enterprise ethics and compliance and privacy programs, including development of program focus, content and training.
- Conduct and/or direct internal investigations
- Negotiate, draft and review the data privacy and security aspects of contracts with internal and external business partners to effectively manage and mitigate privacy risks via contract terms and conditions across a wide spectrum of clients and vendors, develop standard provisions, and escalation processes.
- In connection with acquisition activity, lead due diligence and integration efforts relating to relevant compliance and privacy areas.
- Conduct program assessments to identify gaps in compliance and risks to the business, and work with the business to mitigate findings.
- Monitor emerging compliance and privacy concerns and/or threats, respond to legislative changes through regular reviews and revisions of policies and internal processes, and advise relevant stakeholders on appropriate courses of action.
- Provide support and guidance to the Company’s compliance and privacy professionals in the performance of their job responsibilities and professional development
- Support other Legal & Compliance department initiatives and responsibilities as needed
Required Education / Certifications
- Bachelors’ Degree
- Juris Doctorate
Preferred Education/Certifications:
- CIPP/US, CIPM
- CCP, CCEP
- Membership in Texas or California Bar
Minimum Experience:
- At least 7 years of compliance and privacy experience in a corporate or government agency environment
