The Equal Opportunity (EO) and Title IX Coordinator is the designated campus official responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the College’s Equal Opportunity and Title IX compliance obligations in accordance with the College’s mission and values. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing policies, processes, procedures, and training related to these areas and will work with the campus community to assure compliance with EO and Title IX regulations. This includes overseeing and monitoring compliance with College policies related to EO and Title IX; implementing complaint procedures, including notification, investigation and disposition of complaints; providing educational materials and training for the College community about prevention and policy; conducting and/or coordinating investigations of complaints received pursuant to EO or Title IX; ensuring a fair and neutral process for all parties; facilitating informal resolutions and supportive measures; and monitoring all other aspects of the College's EO policies and procedures and Title IX compliance. This includes coordinating investigations into all complaints by any member of the Centre College community against any other member based in whole or in part on one’s race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, age, disability, veteran’s status, or genetic information, or any characteristic protected by applicable local, state, or Federal law (collectively with sex and gender discrimination “discrimination”). This individual will report to the Vice President for Legal Affairs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate the College’s Title IX and other antidiscrimination efforts including the development, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate disclosures, policies, procedures, and practices designed to comply with federal and state legislation, regulation, case law, and College policy requiring the prompt and equitable resolution of all complaints pursuant to applicable laws;
- Provide direction for all activities and any personnel of the EO Title IX program including consulting with relevant policy-making bodies and senior personnel for the purpose of advising, clarifying and identifying necessary action to eliminate protected class discrimination in all educational programs and activities and employment, to ensure that access to facilities, opportunities, and resources is equitable throughout the College’s programs;
- Provide ongoing training, consultation, and technical assistance on nondiscrimination and sexual misconduct policies for all students and employees, with specialized training content for any in-house Title IX adjudicators;
- Selects, trains, and oversees investigators, adjudicators and those involved with processing Title IX complaints and ensures they are adequately trained in compliance with Title IX guidance;
- Work with appropriate offices (e.g., Legal Affairs, Student Life, Human Resources, and Athletics) to develop, implement and coordinate College strategic efforts aimed at the prevention of sexual violence and other forms of sex and/or gender-based discrimination;
- Identifies systemic problems relating to complaints and determines whether campus-wide resources should be adopted in response, including review and revision of the College's sexual misconduct policies, increased monitoring, supervision or security at locations where sexual misconduct is reported to occur, and increased education and prevention efforts to targeted populations;
- Collaborates with leadership and campus constituencies to disseminate information, redesign processes, and support the College's investigative processes; collaborates and coordinates with compliance partners within the department and across the institution to support the College's overlapping compliance needs and responsibilities;
- Assist the Athletics Department in administering the requirement that all current and prospective student-athletes complete the Centre Athletics Minimum Expectations for Due Diligence Inquiries questionnaire regarding Serious Misconduct and, as warranted, conducting an appropriately thorough inquiry prior to allowing a current or prospective student-athlete to participate in athletics practice or competition;
- Respond to requests of Centre student-athletes who are seeking to transfer to another collegiate institution and need the certification by Centre’s Title IX Coordinator of disciplinary status for Title IX matters;
- Appreciation of and commitment to further an inclusive culture for those of diverse backgrounds such as ability, age, class, ethnicity, faith, gender, neurodiversity, race and sexual orientation;
- Keep accurate records of all discrimination complaints and referrals for the required time period according to the law and the College's record retention policy;
- Conduct or oversee inquiries and investigations into allegations of discrimination to the level required under DOE regulations (as revised or updated);
- Collaborate with campus departments to evaluate and execute supportive measure requests designed to enhance safety and minimize the impact of alleged discrimination;
- Refer any recommendation for discipline to Human Resources or Student Life, as appropriate, for implementation in accordance with College policy;
- Oversee implementation of corrective measures, which may include follow-up to ensure that appropriate action was taken to complete the recommended actions;
- Organize and maintain grievance files, disposition reports, and other records regarding Title IX compliance, including annual reports of the number and nature of filed complaints and the disposition of said complaints, data collection, campus climate assessment, pattern monitoring;
- Serves on various College planning and policy making committees; recommends and participates in the development of policies and procedures.

Education and Experience
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in complaint resolution, higher education administration, human resources management, or EEO compliance, including significant experience handling investigations related to sexual harassment, discrimination and/or sexual violence.
- Solid and demonstrated understanding of federal and state EO laws and regulations;
- Completion of a minimum of a Master’s Degree at a regionally accredited institution in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Record of exercising excellent judgment on behalf of an institution or organization, including large and complex organizations and issues.
- Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards; personal and professional integrity beyond reproach; unquestioned discretion in maintaining confidentiality.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in public and private settings with diverse audiences; ability to translate complex regulatory issues for a lay audience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with a diverse population, and ability to relate well with senior administrators, students, faculty, staff, and government officials.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Significant experience in higher education regulatory matters.
- Experience conducting Title IX or workplace investigations.
- Experience mediating conflicts.
Knowledge and Skills
The individual should be able to demonstrate they are an active listener, have excellent oral and written skills, and sound judgment and decision-making skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary. The individual should exhibit social perceptiveness.
Skills that reflect the ability to communicate and work well with people from different cultural backgrounds. General knowledge of relevant laws and government regulations is necessary in this role.
Physical Requirements
- Limited pushing, pulling, lifting.
- Lifting would not exceed 20 lbs.
