Detailed Job DescriptionDepartment/College DescriptionMechanical Engineering is one of six departments in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering (KGCOE). Other programs include Electrical, Computer, Biomedical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering. The college houses PhD programs including Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, and Microsystems Engineering. There are over 100 faculty in the college with expertise in 3D printing, robotics, manufacturing, materials, nano-bio sensors, machine learning, tissue engineering, and aerosol and particle physics, as well as engineering education, gender in STEM, and engineering design. The KGCOE is the nations premier career-oriented college of engineering, with one of the oldest and largest mandatory cooperative education programs in the world, and with over 3,000 undergraduate and over 600 graduate students.
The Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department is the largest academic department in KGCOE, with over 1000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. ME offers the Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with undergraduate options in Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Energy and the Environment, and Bioengineering. At the graduate level, ME offers Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering with multiple focus areas, a Master of Engineering, and an Advanced Certificate in Vibrations Engineering and a PhD degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
