Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated corporate attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment to become a key member of our legal department. The attorney will primarily focus on commercial contracting, business negotiations and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions. The position will be based in our Overland Park, Kansas office and will primarily support our Trade and Processing Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate and review a wide variety of transactional agreements, including those associated with acquisitions and dispositions, confidentiality agreements and commercial contracts associated with the business
- Provide support for M&A transactions, including deal structure and LOI terms, planning and assisting in due diligence, and drafting and negotiating deal agreements
- Work closely with business colleagues and provide strategic advice to relevant business units related to commercial contracts and disputes and operational matters, including employment law issues

- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in substantive legal areas, keep abreast of new developments and instill best practices

- Possesses excellent follow-up skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic, timely and practical legal advice
- Ability to work independently on a wide variety of matters, prioritizing work appropriately with business colleagues and supervisor
- Willingness to take on additional duties and responsibilities as needed
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- JD and Bar Admission required
- 4-6 years’ relevant experience with a law firm or in-house position required
- Publicly traded company experience preferred but not required
- Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts required; experience managing litigation matters, including contract disputes and employment law matters preferred.
