The Bronfman Center seeks a full-time Senior Development Associate to lead the Annual Fund campaign, largely drawing from previous donors, parents and alumni. The Senior Development Associate will also support our Director of Development in soliciting major gifts and managing the Advisory Board.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
I. ANNUAL FUND
Campaign Design
The Senior Development Associate will be responsible for raising Annual Fund gifts at the $1-$25k level, including gifts from alumni, parents, and previous donors.
- Create a fundraising strategy outlining how to reach financial targets.
- Cultivate prospects and steward existing relationships, including communications, visits, and gift acknowledgments.
- Spearhead special campaigns, such as NYU One Day and Hillel Global Giving Week.
Systems Management
The Senior Development Associate will be responsible for keeping track of all gifts to the Bronfman Center, including creating and maintaining a calendar to track gifts, receiving wires, checks and cash, and assuring that they are accounted for correctly, and sending out appropriate acknowledgements of gifts.
Using the NYU gifts system (Advance) to create reports and pull information on donors and prospects.
Navigating the NYU systems for receiving grant funds, including the liasing with the Office of Special Projects and using Cayuse Research Suite.
Checking the NYU mail system for checks, and claiming wires.
Liaising with UDAR to ensure compliance with procedures.
Creating effective systems to keep all development work flowing smoothly.
Devising an acknowledgment system to ensure that our donors know that they are appreciated.
Provide to the Director of Development relevant research and preparation materials for major gift solicitation.
Alumni Engagement
The Senior Development Associate is excited to engage Bronfman Center alumni and remind them of why this organization is important to them. The Development Associate will envision creative and innovative ways to engender a feeling of goodwill amongst our alumni base, and foster a sense of responsibility and community which leads to financial support.
Engage alumni with regular communication
Create and helm semi-annual alumni programming, in person in New York, in other cities where alumni now reside, and online.
Devise a successful pipeline in which graduating seniors become active alumni members upon graduation.
Solicit alumni for annual donations, as well as for special campaigns as appropriate.
II. Advisory Board Management
The Senior Development Associate will support the Bronfman Center staff in developing and maintaining excellent relationships with the Bronfman Center Advisory Board.
Brainstorm effective modes of regular communication with the board, and create materials for these communications.
Create materials and assist in the running of quarterly board meetings.
Partner with the Director of Development in soliciting and obtaining annual gifts, as well as additional gifts for campaigns. .
Work with the student impact team to connect with and foster relationships with parents of our student body.
In addition, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following qualities:
Familiarity with the appropriate fields that might provide prospective individual donors, foundations, and other grant makers. This may include knowledge of non-profit grant making organizations, government grants, Jewish communal partners, NYU alumni, and more.
Be a team player. At the Bronfman Center, we all pitch in to make this team a success, even when that means doing work outside of our written job description. A flexible and positive attitude is a must. Communicate joyfully and collaboratively about the importance of Development within the Bronfman Center mission.
A desire to ideate and suggest new and innovative ways to do our work. This person will be a key player on the development team, and an interest in coming up with creative ideas and solutions is integral for this position.
A resilient and positive attitude. Development work can be challenging and take a long time, and this person should be able to change courses when needed and bounce back from disappointment.
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
Supervision:
The Senior Development Manager will report to the Director of Development.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Experience:
5-7 years of office experience.
Salary: $75,000
