The Public Investments Department within Northwestern Mutual Investment Management Company, LLC (NMIMC) manages the public markets investments of Northwestern Mutual, with more than $120 billion under management in Investment Grade Corporate, Structured Product, High Yield Corporate, Government, Municipal, Emerging Market and related Derivative assets. This position will be responsible for covering and driving performance within assigned High Yield (HY) Corporate Bond / Leveraged Loan industries. Job responsibilities may include:
Provide timely evaluation of primary and secondary market offerings informed by fundamental and relative value views
Demonstrate the ability to formulate, communicate and influence investment recommendations to senior analysts and/or portfolio managers based on forward looking fundamental and relative value analysis
Prepare high quality, accurate and independent work product
Maintain strong, professional relationships with Wall Street contacts, rating agencies, buy-side accounts, and issuer management teams
Attend industry conferences, investor events and rating agency meetings
Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management on key issues, such as topical industry information, credit specific analysis, special project work, etc.
Use information technology to identify, develop and maintain tools that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the investment decision making process
Engage in Continuous Learning & Improvement (CL&I) initiatives
Exhibit a high level of integrity, trustworthiness, reliability, and motivation
Promote a culture of mutual respect and courtesy
Bring Your Best! What this role needs. Minimum qualifications
Two years of investment experience with a focus on leveraged credit
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field from an accredited college or university
Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
Ability to develop and build relevant models and tools

Preferred skills and proficiencies
Investment experience with Leveraged Loans
MBA is preferred
Progress toward CFA designation
Proficiency with Bloomberg, Blackrock Aladdin and other Asset Management software/tools is desirable
Programming and data query skills using languages such as SQL, Python, SAS, R, Java, C++, and VBA is desirable
Proficiency using data visualization tools, such as PowerBI and Tableau is desirable
Effective oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a drive to learn
Ability to balance multiple priorities
This job is not covered by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement.
