Worcester Preparatory School seeks an experienced full-time Business Manager.
This position reports to the Board of Trustees and the Head of School.
What You’ll Do
The Business Manager is a member of the school’s senior leadership team working in collaboration to manage the programs and operations of the school and serves as the primary staff person responsible for the financial and related matters of the school.
Contribute to the fiscal soundness, operating effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of the organization
Prepare accurate, timely, and relevant financial reports for Head of School and Board of Trustees
Prepare, maintain, and monitor the Annual WPS Budget
Maintain internal control systems including preparation of account and bank reconciliations, supervisory review of all transactions, and ensuring the integrity of all records
Manage the process and oversight of all purchase orders
Direct control of and responsibility for all Accounts Payable and Receivable
Supervise, direct, motivate, and coach Business Office staff
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the fiscal budget and make recommendations for required changes
Manage all aspects of cash management
Manage cost containment
Perform internal audits and also assist with outside accountants as required
Evaluate and implement new policies and procedures
Interface with corporate counsel on all legal and litigation issues
Manage special projects as established by the Head of School or the Board
Develop and maintain Risk Management policies and procedures
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience with a range of software, hardware, and operations systems (Windows, Mac, IOS)
Ability to maintain confidentiality, possess excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task projects with equal priority and anticipate work
Ability to direct and manage others
Strategic thinking and planning skills, analytical skills with aptitude for problem solving
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
What Would Be “an extra plus” to Have
Prior experience with a non-profit
