The School of Business Ph.D. in Business Administration is a research-oriented degree that prepares students for careers in research and teaching. This program allows you to pursue a concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Management), Finance, or Information Systems and Analytics. Graduates go on to tenure-track faculty positions at internationally renowned universities and to work in top-level research roles in industry. Students typically work on a joint research project with one or more of their professors throughout their program, with special emphases on leadership, diversity, strategy and corporate governance, entrepreneurship, and technology innovation within the Management concentration. Within the Information Systems and Analytics concentration, one will explore the relationship between business and technology, while delving into networks, operations, decision support systems, collaborative analytics, and Big Data. In particular, the following faculty members are accepting new Ph.D. students: Dr. Pranav Garg, Dr. Josep Tribo, Dr. Wei Zheng, and Dr. Theodoros Lappas. The core coursework focuses on management, entrepreneurship, innovation research, and design science. Most of the coursework can be completed in the first two years. Students without master's degrees or otherwise lacking an appropriate background may be required to take additional courses. Assistantship stipends are currently around $25,500 per year and include tuition waivers. Assistantships are nominally renewable for up to four years and conditionally on performance for the fifth year. Priority is given to applications received by February 1, 2021.
