The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is currently seeking an:
The Artistic Administrator, reporting to the Vice President, Artistic Planning, is responsible for programming and administration of the LA Philharmonic’s programs at the Hollywood Bowl, as well as the Green Umbrella (new music) series at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Additionally, this position will produce concerts and special projects as assigned across all series. This position also assists Vice President, Artistic Planning with the full range of programming presented by the LA Philharmonic Association including: Winter Subscription programs, galas, recitals, visiting orchestras, community and education concerts, and festivals.
Initiate projects and programming ideas for assigned programs
Suggest, confirm availability and engage artists for assigned programs
Serve as part of the Association’s programming team (including specialists in jazz, world and pop music) to coordinate and support cross-genre programming for festivals and projects
Interact with artists and conductors, including entertaining at post concert events as needed
Supervise Artist Department Manager and Artist Liaison who have responsibility for all artist travel and scheduling matters/
Execute plans associated with programming needs and work closely with Marketing, Finance, Operations and Development departments on aspects of scheduling, promoting and communicating programs.
Communicate artist/conductor program issues and special needs to Orchestra Management, Production, Artist Department and Library
Negotiate and track artist contracts for assigned programs
Prepare and manage budgets for assigned programs
Work closely with Development, Marketing and Public Relations departments on aspects of promoting and funding the above
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Extensive knowledge of classical music and artists
Proven negotiation and contract management skills
Progressive music programming experience with recognition for artistic quality and innovation/creativity
Well-developed critical thinking, problem solving and project planning skills
Demonstrable managerial experience with proven ability to hire, develop and retain staff, manage budgets, and meet goals
Strong written and verbal communication skills at Board, management, and staff levels both formally and informally; some public speaking experience
Ability to develop and sustain professional relationships and collaborate internally and externally for the benefit of the organization
Strong attention to detail with demonstrable ability to multi-task and execute plans effectively in fast paced environment
Professional manager level desktop computing proficiency
