The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Corporate Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI is the site where the first H-D factory - a wooden shed - was built in 1903 in the backyard of the William C. Davidson family home. Join our team as a Corporate Counsel - Commercial Transactions.
This position is responsible for providing guidance, direction and support primarily to internal stakeholders of Harley-Davidson, Inc. and its affiliates in one or more legal practice areas, with focus on commercial transactions. Provides guidance to legal support staff, manages outside counsel, drafts and negotiates commercial agreements, implements tactics, policies and procedures and represents the Company with external stakeholders.
Provides legal services in one or more corporate legal practice areas.
Takes leadership role to actively support Legal Department initiatives.
Seeks and implements continuous improvement opportunities within scope of responsibility.
Tracks legal trends and makes recommendations for continuous improvement as appropriate.
Drafts, negotiates, analyzes, and interprets commercial contracts.
Prepares and implements policies and practices in response to legal and regulatory requirements.
Prepares and delivers training regarding legal and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor's Degree Required
Bachelor’s degree required.
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required.
Qualified candidates will be licensed to practice law in the United States, a member in good standing with a State bar, and the ability to become a member of the Wisconsin State bar.
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with at least 3-5 of those years in a large law firm and/or corporate legal department.
Commercial transactions experience including mergers and acquisitions, joint venture, venture capital investment and strategic commercial transactions.
A high level of integrity, excellent judgment and analytical skills.
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills (including good listening skills).
