The Public Records Compliance Coordinator will coordinate response to public records in accordance with Ohio’s public records law, ORC 149.43 et seq. The Public Records Compliance Coordinator will also coordinate responses to subpoenas and other requests for records, as well as provide assistance to the attorneys in general.
Specifically, the Public Records Compliance Coordinator will:
Coordinate responses to public record requests in compliance with Ohio's Public Records Law, ORC 149.43 et seq.: interpret requests; work with departments throughout the university to gather records; prepare records for production, including redaction when necessary; deliver records and interact with requestor when necessary; track requests and responses; maintain electronic file; train university employees regarding public record law requirements and procedures.
Coordinate responses to subpoenas and other requests for records in legal proceedings; work with departments throughout the university to gather records; prepare records for production, including redaction when necessary; deliver records and interact with requestor when necessary; track requests and responses; maintain electronic file.
Provide general assistance to attorneys: maintain calendars, organize meetings, prepare agendas; assemble data and prepare complex and/or confidential reports; organize information and track confidential and sensitive case files; investigate facts and compile information; handle routine and non-routine inquiries and complaints independently; perform a liaison function between attorneys and university community, attorney general's office, and other outside constituents; supervise and direct student assistants; update and manage computer databases and file systems.
Associate’s degree in paralegal/legal assistant or related field or equivalent experience.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative.
Bachelor’s degree in paralegal/legal assistant or related field or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of Ohio Sunshine laws and FERPA preferred.
