UMKC Office of Special Events - University Advancement
The UMKC Office of Special Events in University Advancement is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Manager. Primary duties include coordinating, overseeing and assisting in the planning of special events hosted by a school, campus department or division. These special events include and are not limited to:
Various events on and off campus
Characteristic duties include assisting in developing invitations and programs, coordination of mailings, program outlines, event budget management, volunteer and board management, negotiations of space contracts and other event details to ensure they are in line with University protocol. Additional characteristic duties include organization of event logistics, such as:
Catering and beverage arrangements
Taking RSVP's and producing name tags
Other duties may include providing backup support for the UMKC Administrative Center Conference Facility assistant. This position involves supporting events that require working some early mornings, evenings and the occasional weekend.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Two to three years' experience in large-scale special events, public relations or related area.
Successful candidates will have previous experience with volunteer management, as well as proven management of large-scale events.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to take imitative and work with minimal supervision and to lead in a team setting is preferred qualification.
Full Time/Part Time
This is a full time, benefit eligible position.
$47,476 - $50,000
