The Audit Principal – Nonprofit Organizations consults and works collaboratively and successfully with Partners, Principals and all staff levels at the firm to ensure seamless integrated services. Also, works with our nonprofit clients to understand their business and industry in order to provide exceptional client service, insights and support. The position will help lead and grow our firm’s Nonprofit Practice and assist with developing and executing our nonprofit practice strategy, objectives, and business development initiatives. The expectation is that this role could lead to a Partner opportunity within our firm.
Nurtures long term relationships with our clients – develops a partnership with the clients to identify issues and trends and identify innovative solutions and ideas
Maintains current knowledge and understanding of the audit practice to add value to clients and be seen as a technical go to within the nonprofit practice
Maintains current knowledge of professional standards, laws and regulations, and corporate governance requirements
Advises clients and the audit practice on various economic and regulatory risks, resolves complex accounting issues, and understands proficiently GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, and Uniform Guidance
Writes technical consultation memos on GAAP / GAAS / GAGAS / Uniform Guidance issues, and assessing financial reporting control systems
Ensures work papers and client deliverables are accurate, of high quality and comply with the required firm and professional standards
Manages compliance and quality control and works with peer reviewers/inspectors to ensure professional standards are met
Works with Partners and other Principals to develop and conduct training for the nonprofit practice and our nonprofit clients
Collaborates with Partners and others within the firm to successfully develop and execute our new business development initiatives in the nonprofit practice
Leads team members as assigned, assisting them with mentoring, goal setting, reviewing and discussing career paths
Oversees all phases of assigned audit, compilation or review engagements, including information return filings
Education, Skills and Experience:
10+ years of nonprofit audit experience
Ability to bring in new business – generating leads, making contacts and securing clients
Yellow Book and Uniform Guidance experience preferred
Form 990/990-PF experience preferred
